Sabaudia, October 30, 2026. The advanced training course “Transborder Environmental Crimes: A Challenge to Security”, held at the Center of Excellence for Environmental Protection (CoEEP) for a delegation of 15 officials from the United Arab Emirates, concluded with the presentation of certificates of participation.

These issues affect communities globally, impoverishing the socio-economic fabric, depleting natural resources, and putting ecosystems at risk. From this perspective, the need for training and experience-sharing among sector practitioners from different countries is recognized, allowing them to exchange views and improve investigative techniques thanks to the support provided by the Center of Excellence for Environmental Protection.

The program alternated theoretical sessions with international experts from Interpol and the French, Spanish, and Portuguese Gendarmeries with practical field exercises, involving the Carabinieri Units for the Circeo and Vesuvio National Parks, the Carabinieri Biodiversity Units of the Fogliano Reserve and Caserta, and the Commissioner for Clean-up of environmental Contmination and waste dump.

The course was further enriched by a specific operational activity conducted at the Castel Volturno Training Center, which also falls under the Carabinieri Forestry School, using the FFAS forest fire simulator. This tool enables the training of personnel in forest fire investigation and evidence-collection activities through the simulation of real cases, thereby bridging theory with virtual practice, in collaboration with expert personnel from the Forest Fire Information Unit (NIAB) of the Arma dei Carabinieri.

The highly positive outcome of this cooperation laid the groundwork for future projects and strategic international collaborations in protecting the global environmental heritage.
